## Quick fixes

### Desktop and PiecesOS won't connect

Restart both apps to restore the connection:

1. Click the Pieces icon in your system tray or menu bar and exit `PiecesOS`.
2. Close the Pieces Desktop app completely.
3. Reopen Pieces Desktop. It starts PiecesOS automatically.
4. If prompted, install any available updates and restart again.

### How do I check for updates?

Pieces Desktop updates both apps together. Open the profile menu in Desktop and select **Check for Updates**, or click the Pieces icon in your system tray and look for an update prompt.

1. Open Pieces Desktop.
2. Click your profile or username in the top-left corner.
3. Select **Check for Updates** and follow any prompts.

### My timeline or memory capture is missing

Long-Term Memory may be paused or the source app may be disabled.

1. Open the **PiecesOS Quick Menu** (system tray or menu bar).
2. Confirm Long-Term Memory is enabled under **LTM-2 Engine**.
3. Check **Long-Term Memory Access Control** to ensure your browser or IDE is allowed.
4. New activity typically appears within 1-2 minutes.
