How we took 1st place on Product Hunt (again!)
How we won 1st place on Product Hunt with Pieces LTM-2—fully organic, no paid promos, just community power!
On March 4, 2025, we launched Pieces Long-Term Memory Agent (LTM-2) on Product Hunt—and we did it with a fully organic approach. No paid promotions, no guaranteed upvotes. Just the power of our community, ambassadors, and team. And the result? 1st place on Product Hunt! 🎉
Pre-launch: laying the groundwork
Even though this was an organic launch, it wasn’t built overnight. We’ve spent years cultivating engaged communities across X, LinkedIn, Discord, and our newsletter, which has over 70k subscribers. That foundation set us up for success, so if you’re planning on launching, make sure you build up your community first (that’s where a lot of people go wrong).
Key pre-launch steps:
A new landing page designed for engagement and conversions
Community discussions across Discord, X, and Reddit to build momentum
A content pipeline of blogs, newsletters, and social posts scheduled in advance
Team coordination using a structured spreadsheet to track and assign all pre-launch/launch-day activities and responsibilities
Plus, we created an awesome new promo video for LTM-2 to highlight key features:
This preparation made sure that when launch day arrived, everything ran smoothly.
Launch day: executing the plan
The launch officially went live at 3 AM EST. The first few hours were critical, and the team followed a precise schedule to maximize engagement throughout the day.
Founders and team members posted on their personal X and LinkedIn accounts, pinning posts to keep them visible. (even some of the team started posting funny memes!)
Ambassadors started posting, bringing in an authentic wave of engagement.
We shared the launch across Discord and Reddit and we were met with SO many amazing comments from our Discord community.
The Product Hunt page was constantly monitored, with responses coming from both Engineering and Growth team members.
A Product Hunt launch party X Space helped drive real-time engagement.
Internally, we had a dedicated gchat channel for real-time updates and multiple check-ins throughout the day to ensure everything stayed on track.
Smit Patel (@thesmitpatel), the COO of Pieces, summed up our approach perfectly:

This level of preparation ensured that the launch felt seamless while every moving piece was carefully orchestrated behind the scenes.
